In discussing the concepts of ‘release’ and ‘letting go,’ I found myself sharing with a friend: “I am so well-practiced in the art of letting go and being let go … I think I’d like to practice being an artist of something else for a while!!”
For so many of us, it seems we live a lifetime of having to learn how to let go (how to live with being let go); and within that lifetime, Life makes us practice that learning over and over and over and over again. Whether it be people, jobs, relationships, marriages, friendships, family, what we think we know (about ourselves/about others), our hopes, our dreams, etc., many of us know all too well what it is to have to let go of, and what it feels like to be let go from, the people, places and/or things that were once such important, defining parts of our lives; that we once believed in and identified ourselves with so strongly.
Sometimes the letting go feels good; sometimes not so good. Rarely is letting go or being let go ever easy: challenging at best – painful more often than we’d like.
Whether easy, challenging, or painful, whether feeling good or not so good, what I have found in all of my practice (willingly or unwillingly) is that:
LETTING GO AND BEING LET GO ARE ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL!
Letting go/being let go is essential in order for you to fully unfold and become; for the growth, development, and evolution of you along your life journey; and for the complete revelation of you, for your own life experience, in all your truth and authenticity.
Letting go/being let go is essential in order to understand and truly see others in their own truth and authenticity – unencumbered by your clouded visions or preferred versions of them.
Letting go/being let go is essential for getting unstuck, for moving on, and for living your life forward.
Letting go/being let go is essential for your own self-discovery, self-awareness, self-knowledge, self-compassion, and self-wisdom.
Letting go/being let go is essential for the trust and faith necessary for you to know and believe that you are actually OK, and that everything is already alright and will continue to be as such – the trust and faith one needs to have in a life and a living that teaches us what we need to know in ways we wouldn’t always willingly choose.
Letting go/being let go is essential for the acceptance and forgiveness of self, and others, that reminds us of our shared humanity and the need for redemption that we all have (all of us).
Letting go/being let go is essential for clearing and cleansing the spaces in your life of the people, things and/or places that no longer serve you where you are; and will not serve you as you move forward along your own unique evolutionary journey.
Letting go/being let go is essential for life — for the life and the living you truly desire.
Letting go/being let go is essential for your purpose – what you came here to do and who you came here to be.
Letting go/being let go is essential for you – all the time, in every instance, always.
So, as much as I am determined to practice and explore my artistry in other areas of life, I will continue to be the well-practiced artist of letting go and being let go that I have become (willingly or unwillingly) for I know it is essential for my very being.
Therefore, I say to you: LET IT ALL GO … ALL OF IT! And allow yourself to be let go whenever the time comes. Let go of the people, the places ,and/or the things that no longer serve you. Allow the clearing and cleansing of your spaces (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) so that the great unknown that purposely birthed you can purposely birth for you the life you’ve been wanting; the life you have been preparing for with all the letting go and being let go in which you have become so well-practiced. Let it all go so that what has been waiting to enter has the room to come into your life, take root, and transform you, your life, and your living into exactly that which you came here for – exactly that which you truly desire. Hold on to you – your truth; your authenticity; your love; your purpose; your intention; your learnings; your gifts; your values; your desires; your joys. Let go of all the rest – all of it; all of them – and know, trust and believe: it really is OK. It will always be OK. You are OK. And, if you don’t already know this, your ongoing practice of letting go and being let go will surely teach you again and again: you will always be OK!
So, again, I say: let it all go … all of it. And in the process allow yourself to know, trust, and believe the ever enduring truth that in the letting go and being let go…all is well – it always is!
BE the art of your practice.
BE fearless in letting go.
BE free in being let go.
BE knowing.
BE trusting.
BE-lieve.
BE …. ILLUMINED!
